Privacy policy
Last updated: November 7, 2026
At Monteverde Brewing Company we like to keep things clear, and that goes for your data too. Here's what information we collect when you visit monteverdebrewingcompany.com or get in touch, what we do with it, and how you can ask us to change or delete it.
We handle all of this under Costa Rica's Law No. 8968, the Law on the Protection of Persons Regarding the Processing of their Personal Data.
1. Who we are
We're Monteverde Brewing Company, and it's on us to look after the data that reaches us through this site and our contact channels.
- Legal name: Monteverde Brewing Co. S.A., corporate ID (cédula jurídica) 3-101-790353.
- Find us at: 325 meters west of Hotel Holístico, Barrio La Virgen, Monteverde, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.
- Write to us at: info@monteverdebrewingcompany.com
2. What data we collect
Only what we need to take good care of you.
What you tell us
- If you book a table or a tour on WhatsApp: your name, phone number, the date, the time, how many are coming and which language you'd like the tour in.
- If you fill out a form on the site, whether to book, get an event quote or ask us something: your name, email, phone number and whatever that form asks for.
- If you book or buy online: your contact details, what you booked or bought, and your billing information.
- If you email us: your name, your email and whatever you tell us.
- If you say you'd like to hear about promotions or events: your name and your phone number or email. We keep them in our contact list.
- Any extra details you choose to share, like a celebration or a food restriction in your group.
What gets recorded while you browse
- As you move around the site, Google and Meta tools record technical data: your device and browser, the pages you view, roughly where you're visiting from and how you got here.
- We use it for statistics and to fine-tune our advertising. It doesn't tell us your name or who you are.
What we don't keep
- Your full card number or its security code. If you pay online, those details go straight to the payment processor.
- Sensitive data. If you tell us about an allergy for your booking, we use it only for that.
3. What we use it for
- Holding your table or tour and confirming it.
- Charging your booking or purchase and giving you your receipt or invoice.
- Getting back to you when you write.
- Sending you promotions and event news, only if you said yes.
- Understanding how the site is used so we can improve it.
- Knowing whether our advertising works and showing you our ads on Google, Instagram and Facebook.
- Doing what the law asks of us.
We don't sell your data. And if one day you no longer want our promotions, just tell us and we'll take you off the list.
5. Who we share it with
Only the providers that help us operate, and only what's needed:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Meta (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Meta Pixel) | Receiving and answering your messages and bookings, and measuring and showing advertising |
| Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Ads, Maps) | Measuring the site, advertising, and showing you maps and directions |
| Booking platform and payment processor | Managing and charging what you book or buy online |
| Hosting provider | Hosting the website |
Some of them store information on servers outside Costa Rica, and each has its own privacy policy.
We may also hand data to an authority if the law requires it.
6. Links to other sites
From here you can jump to WhatsApp, Google Maps, Instagram and Facebook. Once you leave our site, each platform's privacy policy takes over.
7. How long we keep it
- Bookings and inquiries: while we're serving you and following up on your visit.
- Payments and billing: as long as Costa Rican tax regulations require.
- Promotions and events list: until you ask to be taken off.
- Browsing data: for the period set in the measurement and advertising tools.
When we no longer need it, we delete it, unless the law asks us to keep it longer.
8. How we look after it
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Online payments go through the payment processor's secure platform, not our systems. And only the team that handles bookings and inquiries can see your data. No system is foolproof, but we do what's reasonable to protect your information.
9. Your rights
Your data is yours. Law No. 8968 gives you the right to:
- Know what data we hold about you and what we use it for.
- Ask us to correct or update it.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Leave our promotions and events list.
- Withdraw your permission whenever you want.
For any of these, email info@monteverdebrewingcompany.com with the subject line “Data protection”. It costs nothing and we'll reply within five business days.
If you feel we didn't handle your request well, you can go to Costa Rica's data protection agency, PRODHAB (Agencia de Protección de Datos de los Habitantes).
10. Minors
We make beer, so this site is meant for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If minors are joining your tour, the booking has to be made by an adult.
11. Changes to this policy
If the site or the law changes, we'll update this page. You'll always find the current version here, with its date.
12. Let's talk
If you have any questions about your privacy, write to us at info@monteverdebrewingcompany.com. We're happy to help.
